Sonnenlandpark - the year-round excursion destination

The Sonnenlandpark in Lichtenau offers families a unique world of experiences with various excursion destinations all in one place throughout the year:

In summer, it opens its 35 ha large park landscape with amusement park attractions, wildlife park, and indoor play area
In winter, a sparkling world of lights awaits you outdoors along with winter attractions in addition to the wildlife park and indoor play area.

And all this just 100 m from our hotel, because even at breakfast you have a direct view of the red deer enclosure.

Welcome to the pre-season in March

As one of the few amusement parks in Germany, the Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau is open all year round. It also offers a great day trip destination for your family short break on the March weekends.
For the pre-season in March you can expect:

Walks in the wildlife park with over 200 animals to discover, including red and fallow deer, mouflons, ibexes, free-roaming sika deer, or visit the petting zoo with miniature donkeys, dwarf goats, and Cameroon sheep.
Fun and games in the indoor playground IN-Sola, including a large play and activity area, bouncy castles, table tennis, billiards, electric cars, and more.
Great attractions outdoors such as wave swinger, adventure playgrounds, all-weather tyre slide, Helios, digging area, panorama swing, and comet. In mild dry weather, the giant slide tower opens and the bunny hopper carousel turns. Opening of further attractions is possible at any time. Water attractions unfortunately remain closed.

Under the motto “Whether sun or rain – there’s fun for everyone here!” your children can let off steam to their heart’s content in our IN-Sola – the hotel’s own indoor playground – even on bad weather days. A large play area with countless climbing, sliding, and romping opportunities over 4 floors, 2 bouncy castles, the Wild Shark, electric cars, and much more await the children.

Summer season at Sonnenlandpark

The Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau is not an ordinary adventure park, but offers - embedded in its 35 ha large botanical park landscape - an entire world of adventure for young and old:

the amusement park area with over 45 attractions such as Germany's largest slide tower, chain carousel, Ferris wheel, park railway, jumping mountains, lake with rafts, playgrounds, pedal karts and children's quads, boats and much more.
large wildlife park with over 200 animals in 10 different species such as red and fallow deer, mouflon, ibex, free-ranging sika deer, petting enclosures and more
as well as the indoor playground IN-Sola including a large play and romp world, bouncy castles, table tennis, billiards, electric cars and more.

Main season opening hours 2026:
April 1 to November 1, 2026, daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (no rest days)

TIP: only our hotel guests receive park entry at a special price and can explore the entire diversity of experiences on 2 days during their stay in the summer season. On the arrival day you will receive the entrance tickets from 11 a.m. at our hotel reception.

Action, play & fun in the middle of nature – for all ages

Visit the popular excursion destination in Lichtenau near Chemnitz for the whole family. The Sonnenlandpark near Chemnitz is the ideal place for an outing with children – whether with family, for a child's birthday, or as a school start celebration. Just look out for the Ferris wheel at the A4 – Chemnitz East exit. Our amusement park with 30 ha of outdoor area offers numerous play opportunities such as bounce, water, climbing, sliding, and swing attractions, barbecue areas for self-catering, forest maze, park railway, Ferris wheel, wave swinger, and much more.

Experience wild animals up close in natural enclosures

In the large forest of Sonnenlandpark, you can observe red deer, feed sika deer, experience Alpine ibex, white fallow deer, and mouflons up close, as well as pet dwarf goats, donkeys, and Cameroon sheep. In total, more than 200 animals live in our wildlife enclosure.

Winter magic at Sonnenlandpark

At Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau unforgettable experiences await you even in the colder season. From November to February it opens to the spectacular winter magic and here is what awaits you:

50 huge light sculptures invite you to take a walk through the winter park area from dusk. In addition, countless light decorations along a more than 1.5-kilometer-long circular path transform the landscape around the lake into a dreamy world of lights. Whether on land or on the water – glowing attractions and animals can be admired everywhere and in some cases actively played with by the children.

many attractions in Sonnenlandpark winter village such as an artificial ice skating rink and all-weather slide provide plenty of weather-independent winter fun. For some action, take off with the wave flyer, panoramic swing, and comet. In mild dry weather, even the bunny hopper carousel spins for the youngest winter guests.
a park-owned indoor playground, ideal for warming up after long winter walks. Here bounce houses, electric cars and motorcycles, a toddler play area, table soccer, billiards, and much more await energetic play.
Additionally, the wild park of Sonnenlandpark is always open until dusk for walks to meet over 200 wild animals such as red deer, white fallow deer, ibex, and sika deer.
