The Sonnenlandpark in Lichtenau offers families a unique adventure world all year round with various excursion destinations in one place:

In summer, it opens its 35-hectare park landscape with amusement park attractions, wildlife park, and indoor play area
In winter, a sparkling light show in the outdoor area and winter attractions await you in addition to the wildlife park and indoor play area.

And all this just 100 meters from our hotel, as you can see directly into the red deer enclosure already at breakfast.

Summer season at Sonnenlandpark

The Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau is no ordinary theme park. Set in its 35-hectare botanical parkland, it offers a whole world of experiences for young and old:

the theme park area with over 45 attractions, including Germany's largest slide tower, chair swing ride, Ferris wheel, park railway, bouncing hills, lake with rafts, playgrounds, go-karts, children's quad bikes, boats and much more.
a large wildlife park with over 200 animals of 10 different species, including red and fallow deer, mouflons, ibex, free-roaming Sika deer, petting enclosures and more
as well as the IN-Sola indoor playground with a large play and activity area, bouncy castles, table tennis, billiards, electric cars and more.

TIP: only our hotel guests receive park admission at a special rate and can explore the full range of experiences over 2 days during their stay in the summer season. On arrival day, you can collect your admission tickets from 11 am at our hotel reception.

Action, play & fun in the heart of nature – for all ages

Visit the popular attraction in Lichtenau near Chemnitz for the whole family. Sonnenlandpark near Chemnitz is the ideal place for a trip with children – whether with family, for a birthday party, or a school start celebration. Just look out for the Ferris wheel at the A4 – Chemnitz East exit. Our 30-hectare outdoor amusement park offers numerous playground options such as bouncing, water, climbing, sliding, and swinging attractions, barbecue areas for grilling, a forest maze, park train, Ferris wheel, wave swinger and more.

Experience wildlife up close in natural habitats

In the large forest of Sonnenlandpark, you can watch red deer, feed sika deer, get close to alpine ibex, white fallow deer, and mouflons, as well as pet dwarf goats, donkeys, and Cameroon sheep. More than 200 animals live in our wildlife enclosure.

Fun for all weather

Under the motto “Rain or shine – Spa fun for everyone!” your children can let off steam to their heart's content in our IN-Sola – the hotel’s own indoor playground – on bad weather days. A large play area with countless climbing, sliding, and jumping opportunities across 4 floors, 2 bouncy castles, the Wild Shark, electric cars, and much more await the children.

Winter magic in the Sunland Park

At Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau, you can enjoy unforgettable experiences even during the colder season. From November to February, it opens for a dazzling winter wonderland—and here’s what awaits you:

huge light shows invite you to take an evening walk through the wintry park grounds starting at dusk. In addition, countless light decorations along a circular route of over 1.5 kilometers transform the landscape around the lake into a dreamlike world of lights. Whether on land or on the water—there are glowing attractions and animals to admire everywhere, and in some cases children can even interact with them actively.

many attractions in the Sonnenlandpark winter village, such as an art-ice skating area and an all-weather toboggan slide, ensure plenty of winter fun regardless of the weather. For some action, take to the skies on the Wave Rider, the panoramic swing, and the Comet. In mild, dry weather, even the Bunny Hop carousel turns for the youngest winter guests.
an on-site indoor play area, ideal for warming up after long winter walks. Here, jumping castles, electric cars and motorbikes, a toddlers’ play area, table football, billiards, and more are ready for you to play.
In addition, the wildlife park at Sonnenlandpark is open for walks to the over 200 wild animals—such as red deer, fallow deer (white), ibex, and sika deer—until dusk.

Welcome to the pre-season in March

As one of the few amusement parks in Germany, the Sonnenlandpark Lichtenau is open all year round. It also offers a great day trip destination for your family short break on the March weekends.
For the pre-season in March you can expect:

Walks in the wildlife park with over 200 animals to discover, including red and fallow deer, mouflons, ibexes, free-roaming sika deer, or visit the petting zoo with miniature donkeys, dwarf goats, and Cameroon sheep.
Fun and games in the indoor playground IN-Sola, including a large play and activity area, bouncy castles, table tennis, billiards, electric cars, and more.
Great attractions outdoors such as wave swinger, adventure playgrounds, all-weather tyre slide, Helios, digging area, panorama swing, and comet. In mild dry weather, the giant slide tower opens and the bunny hopper carousel turns. Opening of further attractions is possible at any time. Water attractions unfortunately remain closed.
